摘要
Australian wildfires burning from December 2019 to January 2020 injected approximately 0.9 Tg of smoke into the stratosphere; we estimate wildfires injected approximately 2 Tg of smoke into the troposphere at the same time. To accurately simulate the transport of wildfire smoke, we adjusted the injection height in the model and revised the aerosol emission inventory. Wildfire smoke injected into the troposphere exhibits self-lofting processes similar to that observed in the stratosphere. Model calculations indicate self-lofting effect nearly doubles the lifetime of tropospheric wildfire smoke, significantly influence the transport region of tropospheric wildfire smoke in the atmosphere. Model simulations and observations indicate that, compared to smoke without the self-lofting processes, tropospheric wildfire smoke with self-lofting processes can transport more aerosols to the Antarctic region.
